I've been
drawing as long as I remember. When I was still a child I knew I wanted to keep
drawing when I grew up. I would dream about sharing a studio with my sister.
Illustrating children’s-books was another dream.
After high
school I began studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Education. A study that
in my days was very indecisive about getting students ready to be an artist and/
or being an art-teacher. I graduated but looking back I’m not sure it was the
right place for me.
One thing
was awakened during my studies, my love for print making. In 2001 I
joined art-collective Grafisch Collectief Thoets. Thoets is a studio where 7
artists share a space specialized in techniques like etching, lithography,
linocut and screenprinting.
In 2004 I
started presenting my artwork at artmarket Art Plein Spui Amsterdam. At the beginning
of 2014, after 9,5 years, I called it quits. Instead of waiting for someone to stumble upon my art I want to find galleries that want
to represent me and my work.
I never got
to share a studio with my sister but as of this year (2014) I’m sharing a space
with my good friend Nanette Kraaikamp at Retort Ateliers.
2014 Is
going to be a year full of change. Finding new places to show my art. Using the
internet to its fullest. Finally use the illustrative qualities of my work. Use
new techniques, experiment, enjoy and share my new found freedom.
So welcome to my art-journal. Where I share all
these new adventures with you. Enjoy!
